The Encore – Take Charge of Your Health program offers several services to women, which include the following: Referrals for women to have a free clinical breast exam, mammogram and pap smears to women 40-64 The Guidelines are as follows: Must be uninsured/underinsured Must meet salary requirement Must be at least 40 years old Women age 18-39 can qualify for free breast cancer services if: There is a family history of breast cancer She has had and abnormal clinical breast exam (NYS Cancer Services Program covers the cost of follow up care) She has found a lump in her breast She has a personal history history of breast cancer Interested in having an Encore Program presenter at your next staff meeting to educate your staff members about breast health?   Domestic Violence Shelter The YWCA NENY’s Domestic Violence Shelter offers services 24-hour each day/ 365 days a year. 24 Hour Domestic Violence Hotline Number:(518)374-3386 Important Computer Saftey Notice for Women Experiencing Domestic Violence: Computer use can be monitored. It is impossible to completely clear the “footprints” showing where each patron has been. If you are in danger, exit our website immediately and return to our site from a safer computer (a computer in a safe location where someone abusive does not have direct or remote access).    You can call the YWCA at (518) 374-3386 or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at (800) 799-SAFE (7233). If you are in immediate danger call 911. If you are not in danger, and you would like more information about technological safety, please click HERE   Domestic Violence Component The Domestic Violence Program offers safe shelter, counseling, advocacy, groups, casemanagement, children’s services and post-shelter services to women who are victims of domestic violence. The following are basic criteria for determining eligibility for women using Domestic Violence services: Women who are recently beaten or physically abused by a husband, parent or adult child, if that abuser is living with her or has controlled access to her home or apartment. Women who have been abused in the past and danger of this happening again seems likely, similar patterns or direct threats. Women whose abuser is threatening her with a weapon. Women who have been severely emotionally abused. Children who are sexually/physically abused, if accompanied non-abusive female parent Women coming into our domestic violence service via shelter, counseling advocacy or support groups must be able to care physically for themselves...
