Assistant Teacher

ObjectiveTo assist with classroom responsibilities in the Early Learning Centers of the YWCA at the SCCC and Washington Avenue sites.                     

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise children.
  2. Follow the daily schedule.
  3. Assist with planning educational activities.
  4. Work as a team member with all staff.
  5. Flexible work schedule.
  6. Adhere to the NYSOCFS child care regulations.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  1. High school diploma or a GED
  2. One year experience working with children (infants to pre K)
  3. CDA preferred, but not required
  4. Medication Administration Training (MAT), First Aid, CPR certified preferred

Accountable To:  Early Learning Center Director

HoursMonday through Fridays – full and part-time available

Domestic Violence Shelter Case Manager

Objective:  The DV Shelter Case Manager performs intakes with clients, completes assessments, and works with clients to develop action plans. The DV Shelter Case Manager works with clients to access appropriate referral services and does follow-up.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide services as required by the YWCA NorthEastern NY’s Mission and as required by funding sources.
  2. Deliver intake, statistical reporting and program responsibilities.
  3. Develop action plans for clients in cooperation with advocates and counselors.
  4. Have a working knowledge of the legal and social service systems.
  5. Provide information, support, assurance and guidance to clients.
  6. Maintain client files and other records necessary for shelter operations.
  7. Document and submit reports as needed.

Qualifications:  Associate’s degree in human services, sociology or related field; and/or applicable experience in social services, women’s housing or domestic violence; clean driver’s license and car available for use during work hours.

Accountable To:  DV Shelter Coordinator

Hours:  Full-time, Evening and Overnight shifts available.

Housing Case Manager

Objective:  The Housing Case Manager performs intakes with clients, completes assessments, and works with clients to develop action plans. The Housing Case Manager works with clients to access appropriate referral services and does follow-up. This is a full-time position with some evening hours.  

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide services as required by the YWCA NorthEastern NY’s Mission and as required by funding sources.
  2. Have a working knowledge of the legal and social service systems in Schenectady County.
  3. Assist clients with intakes, referrals, move-ins and move-outs.
  4. Assist clients with development of action plans and case management.
  5. Assist with reports for the program.
  6. Assist Housing Coordinator as needed.

Qualifications:  Associate’s degree in human services, sociology or related field; Bachelor’s preferred, and at least two years’ experience in social services, women’s housing or domestic violence; clean NYS driver’s license and car available for use during work hours.

Accountable To:  Housing Coordinator

Hours:  Full-Time, with some evening hours

Lead Infant Teacher

ObjectiveResponsible for providing supervision and educational programming for infants/toddlers at the Early Learning Centers of the YWCA in Schenectady.                 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan educational activities based on age-specific curriculum
  2. Supervise children, staff, volunteers and interns in the classroom
  3. Follow the daily schedule
  4. Work as a team member with all staff in the Early Learning Centers
  5. Adhere to the NYSOCFS child care regulations
  6. Maintain NAEYC and Quality Stars standards
  7. Attend required trainings and staff meetings
  8. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  Minimum qualifications include a Certificate in Childhood Development (CDA) with at least one year experience in an Infant program in a childcare center. Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education preferred. First Aid and CPR certified within 60 days of hiring. Medication Administrative Training preferred.

Accountable To:  Early Learning Center Director

HoursMonday – Fridays – full time, some flexibility with scheduling

Maintenance Staff

ObjectiveProvide the skills necessary to ensure a safe and clean environment at the YWCA NorthEastern NY.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan & complete the duties assigned by the Facilities Director, including basic plumbing, painting, room/apartment turnovers, yard work, stripping and buffing floors, basic repairs.
  2. Substitute as necessary to cover shifts
  3. Work as a team member with all staff
  4. Flexible work schedule
  5. Provide services to off-site facilities as required
  6. Ability to act prudently in an emergency situation as well as in daily activities

Qualifications:  High school diploma/GED with minimum of three years’ building maintenance or construction trade experience. Must have valid, clean NYS Driver’s license. Ability to drive agency vehicles. Experience with basic plumbing, electrical a plus. Sensitivity to diverse cultures and domestic violence victims a must.

Hours:  Full-Time
