CURRENT JOB OPENINGS

 

YWCA Cook

Objective:  Responsible for functions relating to the nutrition program of the YWCA Northeastern NY’s Early Childhood Centers and DV Shelter. Maintains all aspects of meal preparation, delivery, cleanup and storage for meals.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares breakfast, lunch and snacks & delivery to ELC sites (about 60 children) and prepares lunch, snacks and supper for the DV Shelter (about 20 people)
  2. Creates menus for both the ELC and Shelter sites
  3. Maintains food inventory and assists Coordinators with food ordering
  4. Maintains a clean, sanitary, and well-organized kitchen
  5. Maintains Department of Health Safety and Sanitation regulations and CACFP guidelines for children’s nutrition.
  6. Utilizes designated chemicals, knows the proper use and storage according to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
  7. Monitor and maintain equipment as needed
  8. Assists Coordinators with reports as needed
  9. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  High School diploma or GED or Associate degree in Culinary Arts and/ 5+ years’ experience in cooking for large groups, especially in school or camp environments. Effective communication and computer skills required. Adaptable to change, flexible in daily routines. Sensitivity to the needs of the YWCA clients. Clean NYS Driver’s license with appropriate insurance required.

Accountable To:  Youth & Family Services Director and Shelter Coordinator

Hours:  Monday – Fridays; Full-time, 8:30 – 5:00 pm, with some flexibility

Infant/Toddler Teacher for Early Head Start

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan educational activities
  2. Supervise children
  3. Follow the daily schedule
  4. Work as a team member with all staff
  5. Flexible work schedule
  6. Comply with Early Head Start program initiatives
  7. Adhere to the NYSOCFS child care regulations
  8. Assist with documentation and reports for the classroom
  9. Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  Current CDA required; AAS in Education preferred; with a minimum 1 year experience in an Early Childhood learning center. First Aid and CPR certified within 60 days of hiring. Medication Administrative Training preferred.

Hours:  Monday – Fridays – full time
