Annual Meeting

Thank you to all who attended the YWCA NorthEastern NY’s 129th Annual Meeting!   The annual meeting was held on Monday, May 22, 2017 in the McChesney Room of the Schenectady County Public Library. At the meeting, we recognized past leaders, employees, and outstanding volunteers and collaborative partners. Thank you to all who joined us to honoring those who have made a special contribution to the YWCA NorthEastern NY. Katherine S. Rozendaal Award

In 1978, the Human Services Planning Council (HSPC) established the Katherine S. Rozendaal Award to honor a person whose volunteer leadership and activities have had a positive impact on the Schenectady Community. The YWCA NorthEastern NY is proud to continue the presentation of this prestigious award and invites the community to recognize the valuable contributions of volunteers.   In order to be eligible for the award, the following criteria must be met: the nominee must be currently serving as a volunteer in Schenectady County; the nominee should be one whose leadership and activities have had a positive impact on the community and those served as demonstrated through creativity, delegation, management skills, recognition by peers, and interpersonal skills; the nominee should be one whose activities are diverse and who has demonstrated commitment over the years; and the activities for which the individual is being nominated may not be part of a paying job. 2017 Katherine S. Rozendaal Awardee   The YWCA is proud to announce the 2017 Katherine S. Rozendaal Awardee, Carole Merrill-Mazurek. Many of you are very familiar with the work Carole did here at the YWCA for over 25 years in the domestic violence programs. In retirement, Carole has continued to utilize her tremendous skills to help the community by volunteering at the local food pantry, Schenectady City Inner Ministry (SICM), and continuing to serve on the Boards of Bethesda House and Fostering Hope, contributing her knowledge to the betterment of the citizens of Schenectady. Festival of Trees 2016

  The Schenectady County Historical Society and the YWCA Northeastern NY invite all businesses, organizations, and families to sponsor a tree in the 2015 Festival of Trees. Over a thousand people came to last year’s Festival to enjoy the collection of decorated trees. Come be a part of our annual holiday event, November 27 to December 13th! Guidelines for trees: All trees must be artificial Trees can be tabletop or full-size Themed decorations are encouraged Trees must be set up between Nov. 17 and Nov. 24 All trees will be entered into our three voting contests Trees will be displayed at the SCHS Museum at 32 Washington Ave. and the YWCA headquarters at 44 Washington Ave. Tree pick-up is Dec. 14.
